Russ McMeekin, Chief Executive Officer
Prior to joining SCI, Mr. McMeekin served from 2002 to 2008 as President, Chief Executive Officer and Board member of Progressive Gaming International, an integrated gaming management systems provider who pioneered the use of RFID in poker chips for the casino gaming industry worldwide. From 2001 to 2002 he was President and Chief Executive Officer of ViaFone, Inc., a private venture funded wireless enterprise software company where he remained on the board of directors of Extended Systems post-merger with ViaFone.
Mr. McMeekin worked at Honeywell International for 11 years in various capacities including President of e-business which oversaw Myplant (serving the industrial community), Myfacilities (serving the commercial building industry) and MyAircraft a venture with Honeywell, I2 and BF Goodrich. Mr. McMeekin also served as President and General Manager of Honeywell’s Hi-Spec Solutions business unit, the advanced software technology and optimization division of Honeywell International. Hi-Spec Solutions used complex mathematical models to control and optimize industrial plants such as refineries and chemical plants that required mission critical advanced control. Mr. McMeekin also led Honeywell’s Advanced Software Division in Asia Pacific, building satellite offices in India, Australia, Korea and a JV in China.
Mr. McMeekin sits on the Microsoft™ Windows Azure Customer Advisory Board. He graduated from Sault College of Applied Science and Technology in Canada with an Engineering Technology degree.
Jeff Moran, Chief Financial Officer
Prior to joining SCI as its Chief Financial Officer, from 2007 to 2010 Mr. Moran served as CFO of Brighton Collectibles, Inc.; a privately held wholesaler and retailer of men’s and women’s accessories operating in more than 6000 boutiques nationwide.
Before joining Brighton Collectibles, Mr. Moran was the Chief Operating Officer and CFO of Freeman® Beauty Labs; a privately held company founded in 1976 and marketer of hair, body and foot care products. Prior to Freeman, Mr. Moran was the CFO and Executive Vice President of Pharmavite, LLC; a global leader in the dietary supplement industry, manufacturer of nutritional supplements sold under Nature Made®, the nation’s number one best-selling brand of vitamins, minerals, herbs and supplements.
Mr. Moran has also held executive roles with some of the largest brands in the world: Nestle USA Food Company, Dreyer’s/Edy’s Grand Ice Cream, and Thrifty Drugs (now part of Rite Aid).
Mr. Moran has a Master of Management degree in Marketing and Strategic Management from the J.L. Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and a BS in Business/Accounting from the University of Minnesota. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.
Tom Galanty, Executive Vice President, Corporate Operations & Technology
Tom Galanty is a global technology veteran having served in numerous leadership roles for large and small software and industrial system companies.
Prior to co-founding Formative Technology Ventures, Mr. Galanty served as Executive Vice President of Global Operations & Technology for Progressive Gaming where he led the company’s product development, marketing, operations, professional services, and IT functions.
Previously Mr. Galanty was the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of PlantCentric, Inc., a consulting services and executive search organization serving the industrial automation and enterprise software industries.
Mr. Galanty worked at Honeywell International in various leadership roles including President of an Industrial Web Community MyPlant.com, a Honeywell, Microsoft Venture. He also served as Vice President and Regional Director in their advanced application division and served in Honeywell’s Asia Pacific operations based in Singapore.
In addition, Mr. Galanty served as a professional services executive for Siebel Systems, Inc., an enterprise software company.
Mr. Galanty holds a Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering from State University of New York (SUNY) Buffalo.
Dave Weinerth, Executive Vice President, Business Development & Integration
Prior to joining the SCI team as EVP, Business Development & Integration, Mr. Weinerth served from 2006 to 2010 as the Director of Business Development at the Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), where he developed the framework for PARC’s Energy Domain of Innovation and led a solar spinout company (SunLyne Corp.).
From 2003 to 2006, while at Technology Ventures Corp., Mr. Weinerth guided early stage spinouts from Bay Area universities and national labs in raising equity capital. In 2000, Mr. Weinerth founded a wireless telemetry company (Eberwhite Data Technologies) to resolve inventory management challenges in the specialty chemical industry. He had previously led the automotive business for BOC Gases (now Linde), and held a variety of management and engineering positions at Guardian Industries and the U.S. Army.
Mr. Weinerth is active as a volunteer and mentor for the Cleantech Open, the Environmental Business Cluster, and the Nevada Institute for Renewable Energy Commercialization (NIREC).
Mr. Weinerth graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point with a degree in Engineering Management, and received an MBA from the University of Michigan (Ross) Business School.
Andrew Tang, Executive Vice President, Corporate Strategy & Utility Channel
Mr. Tang leads SCI’s corporate and market strategies as well as utility program initiatives for the company’s existing and emerging technologies.
Prior to joining SCI, Andy Tang was the Senior Director, Customer Energy Products for Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E). In this role, Mr. Tang managed a 500-person team charged with developing products, services and rates for PG&E’s twelve million customers to encourage energy efficiency, demand response, and accelerate adoption of distributed generation and electric vehicles.
While at PG&E, Mr. Tang was also responsible for PG&E’s upgrade to wireless digital solid state SmartMeters and was instrumental in engaging and contracting with early stage technology companies focused on energy. His role at PG&E included the complete lifecycle of product development from ideation, managing the regulatory approval process, commercialization, and operationalizing, all of which was focused on enhancing customer satisfaction. He was active in numerous proceedings before the California Public Utilities Commission to seek approval and funding for several key initiatives including SmartMeters, Dynamic Pricing, Customer rates, Home Energy Reports and the ultimate redesign of PGE.com.
Prior to PG&E, and from 2005 to 2007, Mr. Tang was the Director of Intel Corporation’s WiMAX Solutions Development, Americas and Europe responsible for advancing WiMAX as the 4G networking standard in both regions.
Prior to working at Intel Corporation, and from 2000-2005, Mr. Tang was a Partner at Greenbridge Partners, LLC where he was responsible for a multitude of investment banking services including sell-side and buy-side advisories, recapitalizations, restructurings and providing fairness options for growth companies in the media, technology and telecommunications industries.
Prior to Greenbridge Partners, LLC, and from 1994 to 1999 Mr. Tang served as a Managing Director with Montgomery Securities where he was instrumental in developing the Firm’s Convertible and High Yield Capital Markets groups to assist early stage growth companies raise debt capital.
Mr. Tang holds a Bachelor of Arts, Mathematics and Economics from Wesleyan University, Middletown, CT., and studied International Economics and History at The London School of Economics, London, England. He is formerly NASD Series 7, 63 and 24 certified.
Alan White, Executive Vice President, Corporate Development
Prior to joining the SCI team as Executive Vice President of Corporate Development, Mr. White served as Vice President, Market Development for Coulomb Technologies, a leader in worldwide electric vehicle charging station infrastructure and remains on its Advisory Board. Mr. White was Vice President, Business Development for Daintree Networks, where he drove the change of the small Australian start-up to wireless lighting controls.
He was a co-founder of SupplyBase, which pioneered web-based technical sourcing and was sold to i2 Technologies in 2000. Mr. White has held senior positions at Autodesk, where he led next-generation SaaS product direction, and Silicon Graphics at the outset of the computer graphics industry, where he led the manufacturing industry solutions group.
Mr. White brings 18 years of executive experience in business development and product strategy in both start-up and established companies developing design, software-as-a-service (SaaS), and clean-tech solutions.
He holds a BS in Applied Mathematics and Economics from Union College, and an MS from the MIT Sloan School. Mr. White currently serves on the Board of Directors of Bodega Algae.
Pat Richards, Vice President, Software Engineering & Chief Technology Officer
Pat Richards joined SCI in February of 2011 as Vice President of Software Engineering and Chief Technology Officer. As a seasoned technology executive, Mr. Richards is responsible for providing executive leadership and management of the company’s SaaS product development team and drives the company’s culture of innovation with a customer centric focus.
Prior to SCI, Mr. Richards was with Fox Audience Network from 2007 – 2010 as VP Technical Operations for the 5th largest advertising network on the Internet, serving, at its peak, 7 billion ad impressions daily with a reach of 160 million users.
Prior to Fox, and from 1997 – 2007, Mr. Richards worked for IBM, Atlanta in a number of progressive technology roles in the areas of grid computing, virtualization, and Web 2.0 as a Senior Strategist, Advanced Technologies Manager, Digital Media Technical Services Manager and Software Development Manager.
Prior to IBM, and from 1992-1996, Mr. Richards worked for Sprint, Atlanta as Group Manager, Network Analysis and Technical Services. In this role, he led the team which pioneered Sprint’s customer-oriented network design and sales support software redefining the standards for pre-sales support software thereby reducing the time required to perform network analysis by more than 70%.
Mr. Richards has filed more than six patents, is a published writer and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Auburn University.
Dana DuFrane, Vice President, General Counsel
Ms. DuFrane is Vice President and General Counsel for Scientific Conservation, Inc.
Ms. DuFrane joined SCI in October 2010. Prior to SCI, Ms. DuFrane was with BrightSource Energy, Inc. from 2006 until 2010 where she served in a variety of legal and business roles at this utility scale solar power start-up. From 2000 to 2006 Ms. DuFrane was Assistant General Counsel for Sun Microsystems, Inc. There, she provided global legal support to Human Resources, M&A activities and business initiatives across the company.
Prior to Sun Microsystems, Ms. DuFrane held Associate Counsel positions at Curiale Dellaverson Hirschfeld Kelly & Kraemer, San Francisco, Cook & Roos, San Francisco, and at Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton, San Francisco.
Ms. DuFrane is a Member of the American Bar Association; State Bar of California; Bar Association of San Francisco; Santa Clara County Bar Association and the Association of Corporate Counsel.
Ms. DuFrane graduated from Santa Clara University, JD, Honors, Moot Court; the University of Singapore, A.S.E.A.N. Comparative Law Program; and University of Colorado, Boulder, B.A., Int’l Affairs.
Lin Little, Vice President, Sales and Business Development
Mr. Little has been in enterprise software and web based solutions for 25 years. He began his technology career at Xerox as a design engineer, then sales and marketing of hi tech solutions. He was a co-founder of LeadersOnline, a subsidiary of Heidrick & Struggles, one of the first full service Internet based executive search firms. His cleantech career began at EnFlex Corporation, an industry leading provider of facility monitoring software, then SunEdison, North America’s leading solar energy services provider. Mr. Little is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and holds an M.B.A. from the University of Colorado.
