Russ McMeekin, CEO SCI
Prior to joining SCI, Mr. McMeekin served from 2002 to 2008 as President, Chief Executive Officer and Board member of Progressive Gaming International, an integrated gaming management systems provider who pioneered the use of RFID in poker chips for the casino gaming industry worldwide. From 2001 to 2002 he was President and Chief Executive Officer of ViaFone, Inc., a private venture funded wireless enterprise software company where he remained on the board of directors of Extended Systems post merger with ViaFone.
Mr. McMeekin worked at Honeywell International for 11 years in various capacities including President of e-business which oversaw Myplant (serving the industrial community), Myfacilities (serving the commercial building industry) and MyAircraft a venture with Honeywell, I2 and BF Goodrich. Mr. McMeekin also served as President and General Manager of Honeywell’s Hi-Spec Solutions business unit, the advanced software technology and optimization division of Honeywell International. Hi-Spec Solutions used complex mathematical models to control and optimize industrial plants such as refineries and chemical plants that required mission critical advanced control. Mr. McMeekin also led Honeywell’s Advanced Software Division in Asia Pacific, building satellite offices in India, Australia, Korea and a JV in China.
Mr. McMeekin sits on the Microsoft™ Windows Azure Customer Advisory Board. He graduated from Sault College of Applied Science and Technology in Canada with an Engineering Technology degree.
Raj Atluru, Partner at Silver Lake Kraftwerk
Prior to joining Silver Lake Kraftwerk, Mr. Atluru was Managing Director at DFJ were he spearheaded the firm’s cleantech investment practice since 2001 and its India investment operations since 2005. He has been active across technology sectors, with an emphasis on renewable energy, energy storage, smart grid and energy efficiency applications, wireless technologies and business software and services, among others. Mr. Atluru also sits on the following additional boards: Ping Identity, Great Point Energy, Konarka Technologies, Solicore Technologies, and Varolii, and he has been the lead partner on a variety of other companies across the cleantech sector, including EnerNOC (ENOC), Bright Source Energy, CoalTek, Deeya Energy, Reva Electric Vehicle, and Tioga Energy.
Mr. Atluru received B.S. and M.S. degrees in Civil/Environmental Engineering from Stanford University where he taught the solar and wind energy lab and was a full time research assistant on the Waste Isolation Pilot Project for Sandia National Labs (Department of Defense Nuclear Repository Study). In addition, he received an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Joshua Raffaelli, Partner at Silver Lake Kraftwerk
Mr. Raffaelli’s primary areas of interest are in energy and services businesses. Prior to joining Silver Lake Kraftwerk, Mr. Raffaelli was a principal at Draper Fisher Jurvetson (DFJ). Prior to DFJ, Mr. Raffaelli was an Analyst at Och-Ziff Capital Management in London where he focused on merger arbitrage and emerging market investments in the logistics and oil and gas markets. Prior to OZ, Mr. Raffaelli was an Analyst at JPMorgan’s Technology Investment Banking group in San Francisco where he focused on mergers & acquisitions and debt and equity offerings for media-related consumer products and software clients.
Mr. Raffaelli is a Cum Laude graduate of Harvard University with a BA in Government, and an MBA from Stanford Business School.
Gary Dillabough, Partner, The Westly Group
Mr. Dillabough runs the Clean Building Materials Practice at the Westly Group. Prior to joining the Westly Group, Mr. Dillabough was the General Manager of Corporate Environmental Affairs at eBay. In this capacity he led all of eBay’s environmental efforts and helped design and set specifications for a 200,000 sq ft Gold LEED certified building. In addition he installed San Jose’s largest commercial solar deployment (650 kW) and a 500 kW fuel cell. During these projects, Mr. Dillabough met with and built relationships with numerous green building material suppliers and vendors.
Prior to that Mr. Dillabough was the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at eBay. This team generated $575 million in revenue through revenue sharing agreements and ad sales over a five year period. Mr. Dillabough negotiated and put in place a number of large partnerships with the US Postal Service, UPS, General Electric, Sun, and Fidelity. He also oversaw the acquisition and integration of FairMarket which at one time was one of eBay’s largest competitors.
Mr. Dillabough spent four years in corporate real estate and developed his own portfolio of close to 100 apartment units. Mr. Dillabough is one of the few people in this industry with a combination of clean tech and hands on real estate development experience.
Mr. Dillabough has a BS in Civil Engineering from California Polytechnic University. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Lucile Packard Hospital Foundation and OneMillionLights, and formerly served as a director of the Internet Advertising Board (IAB) and the One Laptop Per Child Association (OLPC).
Mr. Dillabough recently installed a 5 kW fuel cell at his home. This is one of the first residential installations in the state.
Barry Schuler, Managing Director, DFJ Growth Fund
Mr. Schuler has an impressive record of 30 years of visioneering. He was formerly Chairman/CEO of America Online Inc. and is considered one of the pioneers of the Internet. He has made many notable contributions to the IT industry including developing early video games in the 1970s, pioneering the color desktop presentation category, co-developing the first commercial interactive ecommerce technology which included wallet-based 1-click checkout, co-developing the predecessor to interactive CRM technology developing the first version of America Online designed to appeal to mass market consumers, and notably a member and ultimately leader of the senior management team that matured AOL from $1B to $250B in market cap during 20 consecutive quarters of growth. Mr. Schuler is a serial entrepreneur and a DFJ alumnus. He joined AOL through the acquisition of DFJ-backed Medior, Inc., and previously was CEO of Cricket Software (acquired by Computer Associates.) He is highly experienced in M&A and rollup activities. Mr. Schuler has worked with venture capitalists for 25 years, has had a long-standing close relationship with DFJ, and co-founded the DFJ Growth Fund in 2006. Mr. Schuler is also Chairman and Co-founder of Raydiance, Inc., a DFJ Growth Fund portfolio company, and serves on the boards of Synthetic Genomics, Good Technology, Raydiance, Inc., EDGAR Online. and UUSee. Mr. Schuler graduated with a B.A. from Rutgers University and is honored as a Rutgers University Hall of Distinguished Alumni member..
In the philanthropic world Mr. Schuler is well known as a tireless education reformer. Mr. Schuler is chairman of New Tech Network, the nation’s most replicated classroom transformation model, now a unit of KnowledgeWorks Foundation, where he serves as a director. He also co-founded Blue Oak School, Napa Valley™s only K-8 independent progressive school.
Ricardo Angel, Senior Vice President, GE Energy Financial Services
Ricardo Angel joined the SCI Board of Directors as an observer in 2011. Mr. Angel is Senior Vice President for GE Energy Financial Services’ venture capital team, focusing on investment opportunities in the western United States. GE Energy Financial Services focuses on equity investments in companies that pursue game-changing technologies and services throughout the energy and water value chain, from natural resources to clean tech. The GE unit’s venture capital group is one of the most active investors in energy technology markets, with a presence in San Francisco, Munich, Boston and Stamford, CT.
Based in San Francisco, Mr. Angel joined GE Energy Financial Services from ChevronTexaco Technology Ventures, where he originated and executed Energy and Cleantech venture capital investments. He previously worked in investment banking at Goldman Sachs and as a technology consultant with CNA Corporation.
Mr. Angel holds an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School and Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate degrees in Engineering from the University of Illinois.
Michael C. Morgan, Co-Founding Partner, Triangle Peak Partners, LP
Michael C. Morgan joined the SCI Board of Directors as an observer in 2011. Mr. Morgan is a co-founding partner of Triangle Peak Partners, LP and serves as its chairman and chief executive officer. Since 2004, he has served as president and chief executive officer of Portcullis Partners, LP, a private investment partnership. From 2001 until 2004, he was president of Kinder Morgan, Inc. (NYSE: KMI) and of Kinder Morgan Energy Partners, L.P. (NYSE: KMP), which together comprise one of the largest natural gas and petroleum products pipeline companies in the United States. Mike joined Kinder Morgan at its founding in early 1997 and headed Kinder Morgan’s corporate development efforts until 2001, completing 23 acquisitions worth over $5 billion. He continues to serve as a member of the board of directors of KMI.
Mike received an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and both a B.A. in Economics and an M.A. in Sociology from Stanford University.
Mike currently serves on the board of DriveCam, Inc. and as a board observer of Scientific Conservation Inc. He has previously served on the boards of two public energy funds affiliated with Kayne Anderson (NYSE: KYN and KYE) and as an Adjunct Professor in the Practice of Management at the Jones Graduate School of Management at Rice University in Houston.
